Hosts kick off tournament in style as Wirtz, Musiala and Havertz star
Germany thrashed 10-man Scotland 5-1 as the Euro 2024 hosts kicked off the tournament in style in Munich on Friday.
Florian Wirtz put Julian Nagelsmann's side ahead after just eight minutes, before Chelsea duo Kai Havertz and Timo Werner added further goals before the break.
Jamal Musiala made it 4-0 early in the second half, before Scotland were reduced to 10 men when Scott McTominay was sent off for a second bookable offence.
Havertz then grabbed his second of the game to complete the scoring and make it a miserable night for Steve Clarke's side.
The victory gives Germany a perfect start to their Euro 2024 campaign, while Scotland will need to regroup ahead of their next game against Czech Republic on Tuesday.
